My Primer on Car Seating – Convertible Car Seats, Infant Car Seats & Rear Facing Seats

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

The market provides many diverse safety seats for children. Styles, safety regulations, brands – your route to a car seat for your child is not as easy as you might think. The various styles are the first of many aspects you’ll need a better understanding of if you are to make the right purchase.

Please inspect this marvelous page for Eddie Bauer toddler booster seats products!

Safety 1st, Cosco, Graco – these and other brands make top quality chairs targeting babies of up to 12 months or 20 pounds. Remember, while sorting through potential products, to decide on a preference between rear facing chairs and forward facing chairs so as not to choose a chair that doesn’t suit your preferences. Doubling up as a baby carrier, seats like this make it easier to transport your baby from car to house – without stirring. The time your baby will make use of these seats is not long, but it is still more than a single year. Convertible chairs cost more but can be used for the full time. Reviews and parents should warn you that these chairs are harder to carry.

An understanding of each model’s key features comes from published reviews and comparisons, helping you select the best for your children. Because of their independent status these reviews are known as being bias free, which helps you to depend upon them.

After growing larger than about twenty pounds, a baby still needs a safety chair until approximately eighty pounds – and that’s where the booster seat comes in. Having reached this age, your little ones should take part in the selection process – if you get them to try out both designs (divided by how the child’s kept inside, employing either the car’s safety belt or a five-point harness) and see which is more comfortable. Many booster seats provide what may appear to be minor features like inbuilt toys, but when you see how much of your toddler’s time is taken up with them you’ll realize how big an advantage they can be.

Your family’s needs, your budget, your lifestyle – these are all concerns that must be addressed before buying any chair, and we can only hope that this guide has made it quicker and easier. Start with car chair reviews and ratings to pinpoint the best on offer.

Where to Buy the Safest Child Automobile Seats

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

There’s no shortage of safety car seats on the market. Although visiting review websites is the first step, the market for childrens’ car seats offers an unbelievable variety of styles, and the compendium of rules and regulations is even more to remember it can be overwhelming when making your purchase. In order to help, we’ll take you through a number of the steps, beginning with an explanation of the alternative styles. The safest child car seats, manufactured by brands like Disney, Graco, and many more, are meant for babies up to 12 months or 20 pounds. These are mostly rear facing only, although you will find an occasional chair intended to face in either direction, which means you should carefully consider which one to pick. Many of the best of these seats can be used as baby carriers, making it easier to move from house to car without waking your baby.

A convertible seat will take your babies much longer to get too big for. Useful throughout the age bracket in which these seats are called for, the more expensive price tag is made up for by being useful as long as required. You’ll find, however, that convertible seats don’t make such good baby carriers. All chairs are different, even within their categories, and it’s here that reviews and review websites are most useful when they highlight every feature of any seat, helping you to choose the greatest chair on the market. With their independent status these reviews are known for being bias free, so you can trust them.

child booster seats are engineered specifically for children weighing between thirty or forty pounds until they reach eighty pounds. You can decide between chairs using the car’s inbuilt safety belt and those making use of a five-point harness design. To make certain your little one will be comfortable, let her try them both out and see what the reaction is. Another thing you’ll find from the reviews is that a number of these chairs provide some inbuilt means of distracting your child on your journey.

We won’t deny that you’re faced with a difficult choice, due to the importance of finding something to suit the needs of the moment, and your finances are also significant factors. The perfect solution can be found by careful examination of the third party ratings and reviews.

Maclaren Pushchairs – the Best Travel System for Your Baby

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

The responsibilities of a new parent are quite demanding, and they range from picking the best baby food to buying the most comfortable pushchair. This confusion was well understood by Owen Maclaren, founder of the Maclaren Company, who designed one of the first lightweight, sturdy and safe pushchairs for parents on the move.

The first Maclaren baby buggy named B-01 hit the markets in 1965, and since then, the brand has witnessed tremendous increase in sales as well as market reputation. The three most popular models in the new range are Quest, Triumph and Techno XT

If you are looking for a stylish and sleek model, it is advisable to go for Quest from Maclaren pushchairs, which that is not just chic and attractive but is also extremely lightweight. Available in three different types, it permits convenient manoeuvrability in addition to providing full comfort to the baby as well as to the person pushing.

The second model in demand is Triumph, which is better suited for the travelling needs of parents. It is appropriate for babies from the age of three months. It is not only compact but is also quite collapsible, and this makes it easy to fold, store and carry around.

However, if you are looking for a very comfortable and hi-tech pushchair, you should try out the Techno XT, which has a unique sporty feel. This pushchair can be used right from the baby’s birth, as it has a reclining seat that can be adjusted in four different positions. It is easy to carry and takes very less space for storage. It also has a rain cover and detachable seat covers that can be washed easily.

Hot Ideas to Keep the Tikes Delighted for Days

Big Foot Relay. Have the children take 2 shoeboxes with them. Magnetic Tape the hats onto the corners, then cut a one-inch-wide and four-inch long slit in to each one top. Get the contestants slip their feet into the slits in the boxes and race.

Frisbee Tower. Buy a bundle of mini Frisbees and direct them in a pile in the mid of the grounds. Have the guests divide the Frisbees among themselves. The first player begins the activity by placing one of his or her Frisbees on the earth. Each of the following players places his or her Frisbee on tip of the first Frisbee, and the activity continues until someone causes the growing tower to topple.

Cross Step. Draw a ten-by-ten grid on the sidewalk or patio with chalk. Have each player stand on a different square. One at a time, each player must move to a new square after crossing out the square she or he was once standing in. The magic is that players cannot step into a square that is occupied or crossed out. If a player cannot move to a new square, he or she is out. The game continues until one player is left.

Drag the Body. Divide the group into two teams. Give each team a blanket. Have one player from each team lie down on the blanket. The teams must drag the body on the blanket from one end of the yard to the other. Whoever crosses the finish line first, wins.

Fountains Going Outdoors

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

A few weeks back, we met a rush of questions from primary schools about our drinking water fountains. The first inquiry was from a schoolhouse in Lincoln who are wanting to be in a position to offer drinking water for all students in each schoolroom. The Victorian primary school was waiting to replace tattered sinks in each classroom with a modern wall mounted fountain sink. This simple unit has little measurements and only has a bubbler for children to guzzle from. With wall mounted sinks the drinking water comes right from the mains supply, is excreted through a water filter if expected and flows out of the bubbler when a simple button is squeezed. The basicmodel of wall mounted sink is without a chilling unit and so the water comes out of the bubbler at mains water temperature. The second enquiry was for an outdoor freestanding water fountain for the centre of a childrens leisure area. There are many fountains built in the UK that are appropriate for high-level usage in external surroundings. We could find three unique fountains that suited the remitand also one that has been specially produced for a primary school where the drinking area is at 800mm rather than the 1 metre suited to parents and teachers.

Halloween

There are many ways to haunt your house for Halloween. Mood lighting can cause a dramatic glow. There are orange light bulbs (or red) that you can use to swap out your regular house lights, it is inexpensive and will add a quick “scary” feeling to any room. Spooky music is a must. Most party stores have great Halloween mixes you can play on a repetitive mode on most stereos or boom boxes. The louder the scarier. Eerie music on the porch is a ritual. The centerpiece can have a great effect on the haunting of your house. Spiders in a glass, jar full of candy corn, spiders outside a bowl, a suspended witches hat, are all amazing Halloween centerpieces. Hanging scary door hangers on the back and front of the doors can be fun. A scary pen in the penholders can add a hint of surprise. Hiding spiders, mice or any Halloween creature can jaunt the senses and haunt the house. Props can be available bargain stores and can be very inexpensive. One of the favorite haunting activities is the white sheet ghost. It is an oldie but a goodie. Clear fishing line can come in very handy when suspending scariness from the ceiling or prompting fun surprises around the house. An appropriate candy bowl is a must. The one with the witch’s hand that says, “want some candy” is one of the favorites. A disco ball or flashing light really ads the element of being in a scary castle with the ghosts and goblins. Lastly, the bowls of eyeball feeling materials or dead finger feeling material is a must or a bowl of “guts’ gross… Have some fun haunting the house, and be sure to buy lots of candy for the little ones that still trick or treat in your neighborhood, be sure to buy the good candy (apples are for health not Halloween).

The Grandparent Connection

The Grandparent Connection

How many of us realized that Canada holds a special day in September dedicated to grandparents? Actually since 1994, the second Sunday of September has been designated to celebrate the gift of grandparents. Great as that may seem, as is Mother’s day and Father’s day, the love and appreciation that is in our hearts should be shown at every possible opportunity, one never knows when it could be your last! Life is precious; it is our gift, as are the loved ones blessed to us.

Reflecting upon and enjoying the memories I have of my own grandparents, who are no longer with us, I realized how the circle of life is truly a miracle. When we were small children, we just wanted to ‘grow-up’, get on to the next stage of life. As parents, you couldn’t wait for that next stage, but all of a sudden life is a blur. Kids are gone, marrying and becoming parents themselves. I have to admit there are advantages to this middle age sometimes referred to as ‘the sandwich generation’! One can reflect back, still remember most of it, and also look forward to the next stage of life; maybe grand parenting. (I love to ponder on how much wiser I become as my kids and parents get older.)

Each one of my grandparents gave me so much that I could never have learned from a book or school, and now I sit in admiration at what my children are ‘getting’ from theirs. Most importantly is that connection one cannot explain. So much has changed in society, as the aging population seems to be living longer, better quality lives. They have had to adapt to the ‘high-tech’ era of cell phones, text messaging, debit machines, Internet banking, e-mailing and on-line chat. It is amazing how the Internet has bridged the gap for grandparents and grandchildren, in spite of the physical distance.

Nowadays, the grandparent’s role is more important than ever as our culture is becoming more and more fragmented. There is more ’step’ grand parenting than ever before. Parents are taking on more due to financial stressors, marriages are breaking down at an alarming rate, kids are having to spend more time alone with TV and Internet influences, and there is plainly more negative than positives out there constantly tempting them along. When a grandparent can fill a gap somewhere to ease that stress, it can only have a positive outcome.

What I see in my generation of friends that are now enjoying grandchildren is the gift of LOVE, more so than materialistic attention. Children bring enjoyment and purpose into the grandparent generation so it becomes an amazing ‘circle of life and love’. The parent, in between, gets to witness that bond grow, and also gains the wisdom and encouragement of their much experienced parents. The children gain at every angle, with grandparents who are good supporters, caregivers, buffers, advisors, confidants, teachers and comforters. Who better to teach history, family trees, moral values, money values, fishing and cooking than grams, gramps, oopa, ooma, nana, papa, memere, pepere, granny, pops, or grandma, and grandpa?

No matter what culture or walk of life, grandparents are the link to family culture, history and tradition. They have not only paid their taxes and dues, but paved the way to the world we now live in; they are the rocks in the face of adversity, having lived through the thirties or even World War 2, they are the bridge between generations. If children are fortunate to have loving grandparents in their lives, they already have a powerful emotional bond to nurture them for the rest of their lives.
” Grand parenting is a gift between 2 people at opposite ends of their journey.”
” Gray hair is a crown of splendor, it is attained by a righteous life.” (Proverbs 16-31)

May we all learn to appreciate The Grandparent Connection in our lives!
